In the historic Railroad Square district, once home to bootleggers and ladies of ill repute, the Western Hotel Building has survived earthquakes (yes, the big one) and more than a few lonely years during depressed times. Having been home to Flying Goat Coffee for almost two decades, the place is now on the bright side of history. Classic Mexican floor tiles fit right in with modern walnut cabinetry and crisp white walls. Dueling espresso machines help keep hundreds of folks happily served each day. There is abundant outside seating.
